Thanasis Giannikos was born in 1962, in Athens, (Greece) and he comes from the island of Lesvos (Metelini). _He lives in town of Volos he's retired from Military Service and member of the Greek Maritime Museum. He has been involved in ship model building for 25 years, starting with ships in bottles and some of his original works are on exhibit in the Greek Maritime Museum. For the past 10 years, he has taken up building traditional Greek vessels from scratch, starting from plotting the ship plans. His main motto has been never to purchase anything he can construct himself. Of course this translates to some hundreds of man-hours required for the exact construction of a model. The appreciation of his work is a prerequisite for any personal communication. |
