A
type of a Greek vessel, for some ones with Italian roots and for others
with influences from the American schooners. Even so these vessels used
by the Greeks islanders for almost two centuries The main characteristic
was the two carved parts of the cutwater (from a side view ) but
also the continuity of the vessel above the sternpost, in a carved
stern. That caused the necessary of a separate contraction of the stern
and then the connection with the rest vessel. These characteristics was
not required as the karavoskaro was the vessel that had the most
modifications depending on the ship owner and the use of it.So
someone could see “Karavoskaro” with “Varkala’s” cutwater and
“Karavoskaro” stern, “Trehantiri” cutwater and “karavoskaro”stern and so
on. Its length was about the 150-170 feet, it was constructed for
any kind of purpose, as its sail state.
This specific model is rigged as a “Top
sail schooner"
